City announces sales tax activity for December 2021
The February sales tax receipts, which represent sales activity for the month of December, for the City of Mesquite, were 18.6% above the amount reported for the same period last year. The increase in sales tax activity this period, which closes out the holiday season, is driven primarily by general retail sales along with building and home furnishings, manufacturing, and wholesale trade. Sales tax contributes 25% of the total revenue used to support the General Fund. The City uses the General Fund for services including police, fire, parks and recreation, libraries, neighborhood services and public works.
