Neighborhood Summit to be held
on Feb. 26 

The City of Mesquite is hosting its fifth annual Neighborhood Summit on Feb. 26 at the Mesquite Independent School District Professional Development Center, 3819 Towne Crossing Blvd. The event is free and open to all Mesquite residents. Attendees will have the opportunity to network with their neighbors and City staff while learning more about the community. Registration begins at 8:15 a.m. The program will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. A continental breakfast for attendees will also be available. City of Mesquite requests public input through community survey

The City of Mesquite is conducting a Mesquite Community Attitude and Satisfaction Survey to get input from its citizens on programs and services. The survey, administered by ETC Institute, will be open to the public through Feb. 14. To learn more and participate in the survey, visit www.cityofmesquite.com/CommunitySurvey. Completing the questionnaire takes approximately 15 minutes.

Daddy Daughter Dance tickets

Tickets to the 2022 Daddy Daughter Dance, The Greatest Dance on Earth, scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 19, are now on sale. Tickets may be purchased online at www.cityofmesquite.com/PARD as well as at all recreation centers and the Parks and Recreation Administration Office, 1515 North Galloway Ave. The dance will be held at the Mesquite Convention Center, 1700 Rodeo Drive. Advanced ticket purchase is required. Tickets are $15 per person, per session, and are open to all ages. Tickets are limited and will not be sold at the door. 



Beverly Abell

Downtown Development Manager Beverly Abell receives Anice B. Read Award of Excellence

Mesquite Downtown Development Manager Beverly Abell was recently presented with the Anice B. Read Award of Excellence in Community Heritage Development by the Texas Historical Commission. This prestigious award recognizes an individual or organization for exemplary work in community revitalization, preservation planning and protection that significantly advances historic preservation in Texas. The City of Mesquite is proud to congratulate Ms. Abell on this distinguished honor.


New Hope Church project

Elks Auxiliary donates $10,000 to Historic Mesquite, Inc.


The Ladies Auxiliary to the Mesquite Elks Lodge No. 2404 recently presented Historic Mesquite, Inc. (HMI) with a $10,000 donation for the New Hope Church project. New Hope Church was constructed circa 1906. HMI acquired the building through donation and has stabilized the structure while funds are raised for its renovation. City announces sales tax activity for December 2021


The February sales tax receipts, which represent sales activity for the month of December, for the City of Mesquite, were 18.6% above the amount reported for the same period last year. The increase in sales tax activity this period, which closes out the holiday season, is driven primarily by general retail sales along with building and home furnishings, manufacturing, and wholesale trade.  Sales tax contributes 25% of the total revenue used to support the General Fund.  The City uses the General Fund for services including police, fire, parks and recreation, libraries, neighborhood services and public works.
