Mesquite Veteran's Memorial

Mesquite will hold Memorial Day Service on May 31


The city will host a Memorial Day Service on May 31 at the Mesquite Veterans Memorial, 425 S. Galloway Avenue. The program will begin just before 3 p.m. to coincide with National Moment of Remembrance. Attendees are encouraged to arrive no later than 2:30 p.m. to allow time to park and enter the memorial area. Learn more.

Closed for memorial day

City holiday closures on May 31


City offices and facilities will be closed for the Memorial Day holiday on Monday, May 31, except for the Mesquite Metro Airport. Trash and recycling will not be collected. Collection will resume on resident’s next scheduled collection day. View a complete list of closures.

Mesquite Job Fair

Mesquite hosts June 9 job fair


There will be a Mesquite Job Fair at the Mesquite Convention Center, 1700 Rodeo Drive, on Wednesday, June 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Mesquite Business Retention and Expansion Task Force (BRE) will host a great opportunity for both job seekers of all ages and employers looking to hire. Mesquite Championship Rodeo returns on June 5


The Mesquite Championship Rodeo (MCR) is riding back into town this weekend. Saturday, June 5 at 7:30 p.m. marks the start of the summer rodeo series at the Mesquite Arena, 1818 Rodeo Drive, which will take place every Saturday until Aug. 28. For more than 60 years, the Mesquite Championship rodeo has entertained families with thrilling rodeo events such as saddle bronc riding, bull riding, barrel racing, team roping and more. Purchase tickets.

Front Street Grand Opening

City holds Grand Opening for Front Street Station


Cloudy skies and some light rain didn’t put a damper on the Grand Opening of the new Front Street Station in Downtown Mesquite on May 22. Mesquite residents, City Council members and the Downtown Mesquite Advisory Board participated in the ribbon cutting and celebrated the opening of the City’s $5.5 million infrastructure improvement project with free snow cones, food trucks, vendors and live music. DCHHS reminds residents still offering emergency housing assistance


Dallas County Health & Human Services (DCHHS) continues to offer assistance to Dallas County residents through the Emergency Housing Assistance Program (EHAP) and Texas Eviction Diversion Program (TEDP). Mesquite residents affected by the economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic can apply for these programs online. Learn more.

Summer Camp with Mesquite Parks and Recreation


Summer Camp is getting ready to kick off on June 1. Campers, ages 6 to 12, can participate in games, field trips, swim days, crafts and daily activities. Sales Tax

City announces sales tax activity for March 2021


The City of Mesquite’s May sales tax receipts, which represent sales activity for the month of March, is 45.2% above the amount reported for the same period last year when the pandemic restrictions began. The increase in sales tax activity this period is driven by retail sales, energy consumption, home improvements and furniture purchase. Sales tax contributes 25% of the total revenue used to support the City’s General Fund, which supports services such as police, fire, parks and recreation, libraries and public works.
