City Council meets May 17 Mesquite City Council will meet on May 17 at City Hall, 757 N. Galloway Avenue. The Pre-Meeting begins at 5:00 p.m. in Training Rooms A and B, followed by a staff Work Session at 6:30 p.m. and the Regular Meeting at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers. Members of the public, applicants and interested parties may attend the meeting in person. The public attending the meeting will have the option of wearing a face covering but the city will continue to implement social distancing measures with limited seating. Memorial held for Mesquite Police K9 Officer Kozmo On May 10, the Mesquite Police Department (MPD) and community members came together to remember K9 Officer Kozmo, who was killed in the line of duty on April 26. At the memorial service at the Family Cathedral of Praise, the MPD K9 team remembered how Kozmo was chosen by his human partner, Officer Jason Crawford, in 2017 and how K9 Kozmo was one of two canines selected to relaunch the department's K9 unit. Mesquite’s new noise ordinance addresses loud music complaints and disturbancesThe City of Mesquite has announced new ways the public can help address concerns of loud volumes of music or noises in their neighborhoods. For general noise disturbances, like loud music, the public can report it to the Mesquite Police Department by using the non-emergency phone number 972-285-6336. Mesquite earns top Insurance Services Office rating for fire protection Mesquite has again earned the highest rating possible for fire protection of a community as determined by the Insurance Services Office (ISO). The Texas Department of Insurance, through the State Fire Marshal’s Office, notified the Mesquite Fire Department the city had a split ISO rating of Class 01/1X. The range is 1 (superior) to 10. Mesquite has had the highest ISO rating since 2006. Learn more.
