Airport presents Strategic Plan

Eric Pratt, Manager of the Mesquite Airport, presented a Strategic Plan for the Mesquite Metro Airport during the City Council meeting on Jan. 19. In fiscal year 2019, the airport had over 86,000 operations which ranks the Mesquite Metro Airport as 164^thnationwide out of all towered airports. Watch the full presentation to Council. IH 635 LBJ East Project Update

The Texas Department of Transportation has started construction on IH 635 LBJ East. Starting Saturday, Jan. 23 all lanes of both eastbound and westbound IH 30 at Galloway Avenue will be closed to perform a bridge demo. Full closures of Galloway Avenue at IH 30 and certain IH 30 and IH 635 direct connectors will also be required. Learn more about this weekend's closures and detour routes. COVID-19 vaccine information for Mesquite residents

Mesquite residents in Dallas and Kaufman counties can begin registering for the COVID-19 vaccine. To register, visit the Dallas County COVID-19 vaccination webpage. Registrants will be notified of next steps as the vaccine becomes available. Free CDBG COVID-19 programs for Mesquite residents

Qualified Mesquite residents have access to a variety of recovery programs, like mental health counseling, utility and housing assistance and much more through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. The City of Mesquite received over $1,500,000 in Community Development Block Grant – COVID-19 (CDBG-CV) funds for emergency assistance to individuals, families, public service agencies and small businesses directly impacted by COVID-19. More young residents buying homes in Mesquite

According to a new study by SmartAsset, Mesquite has ranked fourth in cities where people younger than the age of 35 are most likely to own their own home. In 2019, the homeownership rate among Mesquite residents younger than 35 was 45.46% compared to 35.47% in 2009, meaning the increase over 10 years was 9.99 percentage points. Learn more.
