Tornado Recovery Efforts

The cities of Garland and Rowlett continue their recovery efforts. While some nonprofit organizations are accepting a variety of goods, Garland and Rowlett do not have the capacity to store or manage a large amount of donations. Both communities have set up websites to connect those in need with those wanting to donate goods or services. For those able to help, please register now at www.garlandtx.recovers.org or www.rowlettrecovers.org

For those wishing to donate, the best and most effective way to help is through a financial donation. To donate $10 to the Red Cross, text REDCROSS to 90999.

Mesquite Public Works Emergency Response Team

City of Mesquite crews have been hard at work providing neighboring cities with cleanup and tornado recovery assistance as part of the North Central Texas Public Works Emergency Response Team (PWERT).

PWERT was created by and for local governments to assist one another when an emergency or disaster overwhelms local resources. The response teams operate on a voluntary quid pro quo basis. There are currently 38 agencies participating in this regional mutual aid agreement. For more information, visit

Real. Texas. Service.

The City is always eager to share the good news about its employees and the public service they provide every day in the community. Recently, the City was notified by a resident on Craig Drive about the efforts of the City’s Utilities crew. Impressed by the timeliness of their response to his home, the resident informed the City about the crew’s professionalism and diligent efforts to make the repairs. The crew provided Real. Texas. Service. The City thanks Sergey Spiridonov and Robert Creeks for their dedication to the Mesquite community.
