City Council meets Dec. 21


Mesquite City Council will meet on Dec. 21 at City Hall, 757 N. Galloway Avenue. The Pre-Meeting begins at 5 p.m. in Training Rooms A and B, followed by the Regular Meeting at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers. Members of the public, applicants and interested parties may attend the meeting in person. All persons present at the meeting location must observe social distancing by remaining a minimum of six (6) feet from other meeting participants and must wear a covering over their nose and mouth. Members of the public desiring to comment during Citizens Forum must preregister as follows: Send an email or call the City Secretary on or before 3 p.m. on Dec. 21 at sland@cityofmesquite.com or 972-216-6244. Provide the City Secretary with your name and address. Comments on agenda items may be made during the meeting or by submission on or before 3 p.m. on Dec. 21 to the following email address: sland@cityofmesquite.com. View meeting agendas online. Amended parking ordinances take effect on Jan. 1


The City of Mesquite has started educating the community on amendments to the parking ordinances in residential areas, with plans to begin enforcement after Jan. 1, 2021. The amendments address commercial and oversized vehicles, parking on public streets and private property as well as recreational vehicles (RV) and parking on unimproved surfaces in residential areas. Detra Hill swears in Alternate Municipal Court JUdge

Mesquite Municipal Court welcomes Greg Noschese as Alternate Municipal Court Judge


On Dec. 14, Greg Noschese was sworn in as an Alternate Municipal Court Judge for the City of Mesquite’s Municipal Court. Noschese joins Alternate Municipal Court Judges Janice McKee and Robert Beasley who will support Assistant Municipal Court Judge Warren Nystrom and Municipal Court Judge Detra Hill to allow greater scheduling flexibility to meet the current workload of arraignments, warrants, emergency protective orders and court docket preparation with no fiscal impact to the City’s budget. Utility Billing Office offering
longer-term payment plans


On Jan. 5, 2021, the City will resume water disconnections for water utility accounts that are delinquent. Longer-term payment plans are available to help customers who are struggling to pay their City water bills due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The City can offer a payment plan that fits their unique situation. Call the Utility Billing Office at 972-216-6208 (press 0) to discuss your options.

City holiday closures on Dec. 24 and Dec. 25


City offices and facilities will be closed for the Christmas holiday on Thursday, Dec. 24, except for the Mesquite Metro Airport and Recreation Centers, and on Friday, Dec. 25 all City offices and facilities will be closed except for the Mesquite Metro Airport. Trash and recycling will not be collected. Collection will resume on resident’s next scheduled collection day. View a complete list of closures.

Mesquite seeks public input on Solid Waste Survey


The City of Mesquite is asking for residential and commercial solid waste customers to provide their input on the City’s solid waste services. The goal is to use this feedback in developing a 20-year solid waste master plan for review by the City Council. This online survey will be available until Dec. 31. Learn more.

STAR Transit

STAR Transit Holiday Schedule


STAR Transit has announced a limited schedule for the holidays. There will be no Demand Response Service or STARNow Services on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. Only fixed routes will operate on Christmas Eve. View the holiday schedule. For more information call Star Transit at 877-631-5278.
