City Council hosts Town Hall on the budget

IH 635 Project

IH 30 Mainlane Closures at Galloway Avenue this weekend


The Texas Department of Transportation has started construction on IH 635 LBJ East. This weekend and next weekend, portions of IH 30 at Galloway Avenue will be closed for bridge work. Starting Saturday, July 18 through Sunday, July 19, all lanes of eastbound IH 30 at Galloway Avenue, northbound and southbound Galloway Avenue at IH 30, the northbound IH 635 connector to eastbound IH 30, and the southbound IH 635 direct connector to eastbound IH 30 will be closed. The following weekend, Saturday July 25 through Sunday, July 26, all lanes of westbound IH 30 at Galloway Avenue will be closed. City Council meets July 20


Mesquite City Council will meet on July 20, in Training Rooms A & B, at City Hall, 757 N. Galloway Avenue. The Pre-Meeting begins at 5 p.m. followed by the Regular Meeting at 7 p.m. The meeting location will not be open to the public. Press *9 to raise your virtual hand and you will be recognized by the last four digits of your telephone number. Auto Theft Prevention Tips


Each year in the state of Texas, thousands of vehicles are stolen. Unlocked cars or keys left inside cars contribute to a high percentage of vehicle thefts/burglaries. Remember to always lock your vehicle and take your keys, never leave your car running and unattended and keep valuables out of sight. Small Business Assistance Program

Applications for Dallas County Emergency Small Business Assistance program due July 26


Local business owners have until July 26 to apply for the Dallas County Emergency Business Assistance program. Through the CARES Act, Dallas County businesses can receive up to $50,000 in emergency financial assistance in the form of a forgivable loan. The program is not first-come first served, but a randomized borrower selection process will be conducted at the end of the pre-application period. Mesquite Veterans Memorial brick sale ends July 31


The City of Mesquite is selling bricks for the new Mesquite Veterans Memorial. All bricks will be placed on the border of the walkway that leads visitors to the memorial. Each brick is four inches by eight inches in size and costs $50. Purchase a brick online at www.MesquiteVeteransMemorial.org by July 31 to guarantee installation for the November dedication event.

Want to help a fellow Mesquite resident? The 16th Addressing Mesquite Day is on October 3. This annual event has volunteers work on minor exterior home repairs, painting and landscaping projects for a fellow resident that needs extra help. The City of Mesquite is looking for volunteer groups to participate. Volunteer groups have until July 31. Apply online at www.cityofmesquite.com/AMD.
