COVID-19 Testing Site opens on June 16 A COVID-19 drive-thru testing site will open on Tuesday, June 16, at the drive-thru pharmacy window of the Walmart Neighborhood Market located 915 N. Town East Blvd. The site will be open Tuesdays and Thursdays weekly from 8 to 9 a.m. Testing is for adults, 18 years and older, who meet CDC and state and local guidelines on who should be tested, including first responders, health care providers and others with symptoms of COVID-19. Recovery Mesquite raising food and money On May 30, the City kicked off its Recovery Mesquite campaign as the community transitions from crisis mode to recovery efforts in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The activity provided an opportunity for the public to thank the community’s front-line heroes, support local food pantries that continue helping families in their recovery and to support local businesses as they start their recovery. The first Recovery Mesquite activity raised 587 pounds of food and $1,351 to be shared between Sharing Life Community Outreach and Mesquite Social Services.

Mesquite Veterans Memorial brick sale The City of Mesquite is selling bricks for the new Mesquite Veterans Memorial. All bricks will be included in the construction and be placed on the border of the walkway that leads visitors to the memorial. Each brick is four inches by eight inches in size and costs $50. IH 635 LBJ East Traffic Alert The Texas Department of Transportation has started construction on IH 635 LBJ East. The left lane of the eastbound IH 30 frontage road at Gus Thomasson Road will be closed June 15-19, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day. And the left lanes of both northbound and southbound Galloway Avenue between Republic Parkway and Barnes Bridge Road will be closed June 15-17, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day.
