Preliminary Budget Workshop meeting on June 8


Mesquite City Council will meet on June 8 at 5:30 p.m., at City Hall, 757 N. Galloway Avenue in Training Rooms A and B, for a Preliminary Budget Workshop meeting. Members of the public, applicants and interested parties may attend the meeting in person. All persons present at the meeting location must observe social distancing by remaining a minimum of six (6) feet from other meeting participants and are strongly encouraged to wear a covering over their nose and mouth. Mesquite Championship Rodeo returns on June 6


The Mesquite Championship Rodeo (MCR) is riding into town this weekend. Saturday, June 6 marks the start of the 13-week series at the Mesquite Arena, 1818 Rodeo Drive. Neighborhood Services presented the City of Mesquite’s quarterly report during the City Council meeting on June 1. Voluntary compliance continues to take the lead as the number one method of compliance as 91% of cases were resolved voluntarily. Watch the full presentation to City Council.

The Dallas County Community College District has developed two new courses to streamline the process of reopening America in a COVID-19 environment. The courses are designed to help employees return to work safely and help employers understand the OSHA and CDC guidelines for preparing the workplace. City launches Recovery Mesquite on May 30


The City of Mesquite launched the first “Recovery Mesquite - Forward & Onward” campaign on May 30. The Mesquite community participated in a reverse parade to thank front-line workers who have been essential during the COVID-19 pandemic, donate to Sharing Life Community Outreach and Mesquite Social Services. Pepsi donates 500 cases of drinks to Mesquite first responders


Last week, the Pepsi Bottling Plant in Mesquite donated 500 cases of drinks to the city’s first responders and front-line workers, thanking them for their work during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Addressing Mesquite Day project applications due June 26


Do you or your neighbors need help with an exterior house or yard project? The 16th Addressing Mesquite Day is on October 3. This annual event has volunteers organized by the City work on minor exterior home repairs, painting and landscape projects. The last day for homeowners to complete a request form is June 26. Mesquite Veterans Memorial brick sale


The City of Mesquite is selling bricks for the new Mesquite Veterans Memorial. All bricks will be included in the construction and be placed on the border of the walkway that leads visitors to the memorial. Each brick is four inches by eight inches in size and costs $50. Purchase a brick online at www.MesquiteVeteransMemorial.org by July 31 to guarantee installation for the November dedication event.
