City plans Recovery Mesquite activity for May 30


The City of Mesquite is planning the Recovery Mesquite activity for Saturday, May 30, from 10 - 11 a.m. at Town East Mall, 2063 Town East Mall, to aid families and businesses recovering from the impacts of COVID-19. Recovery Mesquite will offer the public the opportunity to thank front line workers from their vehicle with a parade, food donations and financial contributions to Sharing Life Community Outreach and Mesquite Social Services as both continue to aid families in the recovery process and support surrounding stores and restaurants in the retail area to help them recover. Governor Abbott announces Phase II to Open Texas


Governor Greg Abbott announced the second phase of the State of Texas’ ongoing plan to safely and strategically open Texas while minimizing the spread of COVID-19. Under Phase II, restaurants may increase their occupancy to 50% and additional services and activities may open with restricted occupancy levels. Town East Mall open for business


Town East Mall has reopened, and online shopping is the perfect way to Shop Mesquite while social distancing and supporting Mesquite businesses and restaurants. Customers can take advantage of Curbside Pickup from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 12 - 6 p.m. on Sundays. View a full list of participating retailers. The community will help homeowners on Addressing Mesquite Day


Do you or your neighbors need help with an exterior house or yard project? The 16th Addressing Mesquite Day is on October 3. This annual event has volunteers organized by the City work on minor exterior home repairs, painting and landscape projects. The last day for homeowners to complete a request form is June 26. Mesquite BBQ Shares Recipe with Travel Texas


Mesquite BBQ recently shared its popular pulled-pork recipe in an email newsletter with Travel Texas, the tourism division of the Office of the Governor.
