Mesquite announces plans to adjust to impacts of COVID-19


At the May 4 City Council meeting City Manager Cliff Keheley shared plans for the City of Mesquite to make service and program adjustments due to the impacts of COVID-19. This will include keeping both libraries closed until June 1 and delaying decisions on summer camps and the City’s three pools until guidance is provided by the State. The City is also canceling the June 13 Summer Sizzle event and continuing the suspension of the residential curbside recycling program until July 1. Learn more.

Mesquite Recycles Day

Mesquite Recycles Day canceled


Due to the coronavirus, the Mesquite Recycles Day event scheduled for May 9 is canceled. However, the Citizens Convenience and Recycling Center, 3550 Lawson Road is open to Mesquite residents to drop off recyclable items. The center is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. All customers must provide proof of Mesquite residency. Call the Solid Waste Division at 972-216-6285 for questions.

Palos Verdes Lake

Palos Verdes Lake drained for construction


The City is improving the flood control at Palos Verdes Lake. After a certified team of licensed biologists from PondMedics relocated wildlife, McMahon Contracting, LP started draining the lake this week. Watch the Palos Verdes Project video. Due to COVID-19, the U.S. Census Bureau is delaying sending census takers out into communities. However, you can be proactive and complete the 2020 Census today.
