Latest Mesquite news on the Coronavirus (COVID-19)


The City of Mesquite has announced the closure of more facilities due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Public Health Clinic will be closed until further notice. For details, call the clinic at 972-329-8326. The Mesquite Library System and the Mesquite Arts Center will be closed until May 1. Housing and Community Services caseworkers are conducting interviews by phone only. Census 2020 will determine how much federal funding Mesquite will receive for education, healthcare, housing and more so it’s important that everybody takes part. The 2020 Census will ask questions like the number of people living at an address. This information is used to help State and local officials to draw boundaries for congressional districts, state legislative districts and school districts. Water Billing Office closes early on March 27


The Water Billing Office will close at 1 p.m. on March 27 for a system upgrade. The payment website will also be down for maintenance at that time. The Water Billing Office will reopen on Monday, March 30 at 8 a.m. Learn more.

March Sales Tax Revenues

Monthly sales tax report


City of Mesquite’s March sales tax receipts, which represent sales activity for the month of January, are 19.1% above the amount reported for the same period last year. Total fiscal year sales tax collections for the City are 8.8% above last year’s collections. Sales tax contributes 25% of the total revenue used to support the City’s General Fund, which supports services such as police, fire, parks and recreation, libraries and public works. Learn more.
