Finance Department presents financial statements for 2019


The Finance Department presented the preliminary financial statements for fiscal year 2019 to the City Council on Feb. 17. The 2019 audit is still in progress and is expected to be completed by the end of March. The department also presented the first quarter statements for 2020. Watch the presentation.

635 LBJ East Project

TxDOT presents plans for I-635/ LBJ East Project


On Feb. 17, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) updated City Council on the I-635 LBJ East project which will provide congestion relief along 11 miles of I-635, from east of U.S. 75 to south of the I-635/I-30 Interchange. Public Input Meeting regarding SOLTERRA

NTMWD disinfectant change

Annual change in water disinfectant scheduled from March 2 to March 30 


The North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) will temporarily change the disinfectant in its water treatment process from March 2 through March 30. The annual, routine change is necessary to maintain the regional system and year-round water quality. Learn more.

City Council votes to name new road in honor of former Mayor, George Boyce


The City Council has unanimously voted to name a new road after former Mesquite Mayor George Boyce. At the Feb. 17 City Council Meeting, they presented him with the new George Boyce Drive street sign. To watch the presentation, click here. Mesquite police use special 3D technology for crime scenes

Mesquite Police Department uses new technology to help create 3D maps of crime scenes


The Mesquite Police Department (MPD) can use a mapping system called FARO to create and render a 3D model of a crime scene, allowing investigators to take more measurements or reexamine specific types of evidence. Learn more about the technology.

february sales tax report

Monthly sales tax report


City of Mesquite’s February sales tax receipts, which represent sales activity for the month of December, are 7.8% above the amount reported for the same period last year. Total fiscal year sales tax collections for the City are 6.1% above last year’s collections. Sales tax contributes 25% of the total revenue used to support the City’s General Fund, which supports services such as police, fire, parks and recreation, libraries and public works. Learn more.
