Mesquite community raises more than $22,000 for Special Olympics Texas

The Mesquite Police Department led the charge and helped raise more than $22,000 for Special Olympics Texas. On Feb. 1, Mesquite residents took part in the annual Polar Plunge, plunging into 49- degree water.  In the past 10 years, the Mesquite community has donated more than $200,000 through the annual event that generates funds to help provide people with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to compete in year-round sports. Mesquite Fire Department presents 2020 Meritorious Award

The Mesquite Fire Department presented the 2020 Meritorious Awards to 80 employees at the Feb. 3 City Council Meeting, for their professional achievements and service to the Mesquite community. Lieutenant Eric Haake received the 2020 Officer of the Year Award. Firefighter/Paramedic Russell Wolf was awarded the 2020 Paramedic of the Year Award. Mesquite Symphony Orchestra

Mesquite Symphony Orchestra performs Feb. 8

The City of Mesquite’s Office of Neighborhood Vitality hosts the Third Annual Neighborhood Summit on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at MISD Professional Development Center, 3819 Towne Crossing Boulevard. It is free and open to all residents. This year’s theme is “Rollin’ Out the Resources” and attendees will have the opportunity to network with their neighbors and city staff and learn more about the community. HR launches new job assistance program

City of Mesquite Human Resources Department launches new job assistance program

In an effort to promote employment opportunities, the City of Mesquite Human Resources Department will offer a free Resume Writing and Interviewing Skills Assistance program. The goal is to provide residents who are looking for a job with personalized training. The first job assistance program is Feb. 24 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the Mesquite Main Library, 300 W Grubb Dr. Seating is limited. Annual change in water disinfectant scheduled from March 2 to March 30

The North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) will temporarily change the disinfectant in its water treatment process from March 2 through March 30, 2020. The annual, routine change is necessary to maintain the regional system and year round water quality. It keeps drinking water free of harmful microorganisms, such as parasites and viruses.
