Mesquite, TX – May 9, 2018 – The City of Mesquite recently announced the hiring of Jessica McClellan as the new manager of the Mesquite Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB). McClellan’s experience includes 20 years of working with communities in public relations roles, including as a manager at the Utah State Office of Tourism and Executive Director of the American Fork City Chamber of Commerce. She graduated from the University of Utah with degrees in Public Administration and Political Science.
McClellan said, “It’s an exciting time to be at the City of Mesquite. I got to Texas as fast as I could, and I love Mesquite. Everyone is so friendly. Southern hospitality is real and thriving here.”
McClellan indicated her excitement of being able to promote the Mesquite Arts Center programming, the Mesquite Arena with its new variety of expanded entertainment and traditional rodeo schedule as well as Mesquite’s growing retailers, restaurants and hotel properties.
The CVB plans to seek opportunities with new diverse markets to grow Mesquite’s tourism. This includes sports marketing and retail tourism. Additionally, the CVB will eagerly look to attract an array of social, military, educational, religious and fraternal groups to Mesquite for conferences and private functions.
McClellan replaces former CVB Director Judy Skowron who retired earlier this year after 15 years of dedicated service to the Mesquite community.
