Mesquite, TX – February 19, 2018 – The City of Mesquite has announced Eric Pratt as the new General Manager of the Mesquite Metro Airport. Pratt was the Airport Operations Manager at McKinney National Airport since 2013. Pratt replaces Cynthia Godfrey who is retiring. Godfrey has been the Airport Director since 1997.
In addition to McKinney National Airport, Pratt has worked at Dallas Love Field and Collin County Regional Airport in various operational roles. He was also a pilot from 2011 - 2013 for Monarch Air based in Addison, TX.
Pratt has a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Management from the University of Oklahoma. He is a Certified Member of the American Association of Airport Executives. In 2015, he was chosen by Airport Business Magazine for their “Top 40 under 40” profile.
Pratt stated, “It is exciting to be chosen to lead the Mesquite airport into its next generation of growth. The airport has evolved into a relevant player in corporate air traffic. This is evident by the rise in the number of aircraft owners investing in the construction of private hangers at the airport.”
Mesquite Metro Airport (HQZ) is located in Mesquite, approximately 13 miles to the east of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. The airport was privately developed at the current site in 1975. In 1983, the City of Mesquite purchased the airport with grant funding from the FAA. In 2005, Mesquite Metro Airport was named the "Reliever Airport of the Year" by the Texas Department of Transportation. In 2013, the airport opened its Air Traffic Controller.
