Mesquite, TX – October 27, 2022 – Keep Mesquite Beautiful, Inc. (KMB) will host a public Arbor Day event at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 4 at Hanby Elementary School, located at 480 Gross Road. The event will include a performance from the Hanby Elementary School Choir, guest speakers, and a native plant seedling and sapling giveaway. Plus, a poem reading by Clara Horn, an Evans Recreational Center Adults 50+ participant.
KMB’s Program Administrator Jonathan Chitty said, “We are excited to commemorate this event in conjunction with Texas Arbor Day. This is the 32nd year that the City of Mesquite has been recognized as a ‘Tree City USA’ city by the National Arbor Day Foundation.” Chitty shared that Mesquite has planted more than 30,000 trees in the community since 1988.
Chitty stated that the celebration will be a great opportunity for the community to come together to learn more about the importance of Arbor Day and KMB. Chitty explained, “We are using this year’s Arbor Day to encourage our citizens to get more involved in improving the appearance of our community.” He encourages everyone to take this opportunity to reflect on the importance of protecting our environment and keeping our city beautiful for future generations.
KMB’s mission is to inspire, educate, and engage the Mesquite community to recycle, reduce litter, and beautify the city. This all-volunteer, non-profit community 501(c)3 organization meets its goals of litter prevention, beautification, reduction of use of resources, reuse of resources, and recycling through education and outreach opportunities in Mesquite.
