Mesquite, TX – June 18, 2020 – Mayor Bruce Archer is asking Mesquite residents to sit outside on June 23. One of Mayor Archer’s goals is to create a “kinder and gentler” community and he is asking residents to practice this by taking the time to be outside from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23 to speak with their neighbors and spread kindness by waving as people drive or walk by.
Mayor Archer said, “As we seek to build a ‘love thy neighbor’ community, to build a kinder and gentler Mesquite, we need to actually practice that. I want to encourage everyone to be outside to spread love and kindness. Imagine if that happened in every neighborhood, in every street in our town what a great example that would be for building the community we want to build here in Mesquite.”
Due to COVID-19 concerns and the continued push for social distancing, Mayor Archer is asking people to spend time outside on their front yards or street corners. He also suggested making signs and waving as people passed by.
