Mesquite, TX – January 17, 2020 – The Mesquite Police Department (MPD) depends on residents to help identify suspicious activity in neighborhoods. Below is an example of how you can help deter neighborhood crime.
Recently, an alert resident in the Indian Trails neighborhood noticed suspicious activity on their street. Knowing the increased number of visitors to the house appeared unusual, the resident contacted MPD. Investigators began watching the house and the people visiting. After a few weeks of great investigative work, warrants were issued for two houses in Mesquite. Officers were able to shut down a drug operation, arrest five people and recover several guns and drugs.
Residents need to be aware of activity in their neighborhood and report any suspicious activity. If you see something, say something, just like the alert resident in Indian Trails. MPD encourages residents to spend twenty minutes outside their home, four out of seven days each week. Being visible is a great way deter crime and makes neighborhoods stronger.
