Mesquite, TX – January 13, 2020 – The Mesquite Independent School District raised over $1,000 for the new Mesquite Veterans Memorial. MISD Superintendent, Dr. David Vroonland, presented the check on behalf of the district to Mayor Bruce Archer and community volunteers at the Jan. 6 City Council meeting.
Dr. Vroonland said, “When I got the call two years ago, would we be interested in supporting the effort for the Veterans Memorial it was an easy answer, yes, we would love to do this. Because we serve the purpose of freedom as our veterans have served the purpose of freedom as well.”
MISD raised $1,426 during the district’s annual pancake breakfast, which is free of charge to any military veteran.
