ART REQUIREMENTS
- This year’s contest theme is MAKE MESQUITE MESS-FREE.
- Artwork may feature any medium of recycled materials found by cleanup initiatives or in your personal recycle bin.
- Submission may highlight Mesquite themes, attributes, landmarks, or artist’s creative interpretation of the theme.
- The majority of artwork must be made from recycled materials.
- NO soiled trash, food waste, or hazardous materials may be used.
- In addition to recycled materials, general art supplies including, but not limited to glue, tape, wire, twine, paint, markers, crayons, map pencils, etc. may be used.
- Name or identifying information should not be visible from the front of artwork.
- Artwork must be free of any vulgar, obscene, or inappropriate words, phrases, or imagery.
- Sculptures and 3D artwork must be stable and freestanding.
CONTEST ENTRY INSTRUCTIONS
Three photos and entry form should be submitted via email to KMB@cityofmesquite.com and artwork received at the Keep Mesquite Beautiful office no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 21, 2023.
JUDGING CRITERIA
40% creative use of recycled materials
30% craftmanship
30% overall presentation and aesthetic
AWARDS
Every entry will receive a participation certificate. Prizes for 1st Place will be awarded as follows:
Elementary School - $25 Visa gift card
Middle School - $50 Visa gift card
High School - $75 Visa gift card
Adult - $100 Visa gift card
Awards will take place at the KMB Art Show in conjunction with the City of Mesquite Cinco de Mayo celebration downtown on May 6, 2023.
The Art Show will take place at The Jazz Patisserie and Baking Company located at 217 W Main Street from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
All artworks will be featured on the KMB website and social media pages and may be shared to other publications.
Artwork will need to be picked up following the exhibition.
