The City of Mesquite’s Office of Neighborhood Vitality will host the Fourth Annual Neighborhood Summit on Saturday, March 6. The theme is “Steering Forward.” All Mesquite residents have the opportunity to join the virtual event. The free summit will feature guest speakers and more to educate and provide helpful tips for coordinating neighborhood groups.

2021 Keynote Speaker Catherine Huckaby
Catherine Huckaby serves as the Community Engagement Manager with the City of Fort Worth. The Community Engagement Office works with residents on building neighborhood capacity and the developing communication networks of city stakeholders, such as faith-based groups, neighborhood associations, schools and non-profit organizations vital to the success of city initiatives and programs. Huckaby recently began her second term as President of Neighborhoods, USA (NUSA). NUSA provides opportunities for diverse people and organizations to share their ideas, values, and experiences to build stronger communities. The NUSA 2021 Virtual Conference will be hosted by the City of Fort Worth, May 19-22, 2021. Huckaby’s prior experiences include serving as the Volunteer Southlake Program Coordinator, the managing member of Noble Mediation Services, LLC and a Children’s Director for a mid-size faith based organization. Huckaby received a BA from University of North Texas, MPA from the University of Texas at Arlington and is a certified Family Mediator.
