Park and Rec Month
This July, Get Your Play On! Since 1985, Americas have celebrated July as the nation’s official Park and Recreation Month as designated by National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA). The goal of this month is to highlight the vital and powerful role parks and recreation play in health and wellness of our community. Play is a vital part of our mental wellbeing, physical health and personal interactions.

Fun activities will be planned all around Mesquite, come and join the PLAY. 

Saturday, July 1: All Day

Play a game of disc golf at one of three locations. Porter, Debusk and Paschall Park. Get a score card at www.CityofMesquite.com/DiscGolf.

Sunday, July 2: All Day

Bring friends and play sand volleyball at Evans Recreation Center.

Monday, July 3: All Day

Pack a family picnic and explore the newly renovated Vanston Park. Play on the basketball court or walk the trail. 

Tuesday, July 4: All Day

Happy Fourth of July! Enjoy family and food at a Mesquite Park.

Wednesday, July 5: After 5 p.m.

Wednesday is Ladies Night at the Mesquite Golf Club. Ladies can play nine holes after 5 p.m. and receive one small bucket of driving range balls and dine for FREE (deli sandwich or hot dog with chips and a drink).
$18 Each (greens fee and cart)

Thursday, July 6: 7:30 - 9:30 p.m.

Try Family Swim at City Lake Aquatic Center. Minors must be accompanied by an adult 18+.
Fee is $10 for a family of 4. Additional member will pay $2 for residents and $4 for non-residents. 

Friday, July 7: All Day

Take the kids to Debusk Park to play at the KidsQuest playground.

Saturday, July 8: 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Kids 10 and under try Tennis Free Play Days. This is an instructional program teaching the basics of tennis at the Westlake Sports Center. All equipment is provided

Sunday, July 9: 11 a.m.

Join the Ladies Golf Association for a round of golf at the Mesquite Golf Club.
Annual dues are $55 plus greens fee

Monday, July 10: 7 – 8 p.m.  

Try Beasley’s Family Karate at Dunford Recreation Center.
First class is FREE for new members

Tuesday, July 11: 12 – 1 p.m.

Stretch and tone your body in “Yoga for Everyone” at Evans Recreation Center. 
First class is FREE for new members

Wednesday, July 12: 10 - 11:30 a.m.

Try adult only open swim time at City Lake Aquatic Center. 
Fee is $1 per adult 50+

Thursday, July 13: All Day

Grab your bait and pole and go fishing at City Lake Park. 

Friday, July 14: 7:30 - 9:30 p.m.

Experience Family Swim at Vanston Pool. Minors must be accompanied by an adult 18+. 
The fee is $10 for a family of 4. Additional member will pay $2 for residents and $4 for non-residents. 

Saturday, July 15: All Day

Hit a bucket of balls at the Mesquite Golf Club. Driving range is open 6:30 a.m. until sunset. 
Range balls $6 - $12 or donate a jar of peanut butter or jelly to the Spread the Love campaign and receive one small bucket of driving range balls free.

Sunday, July 16: All Day

Discover butterflies on the Paschall Park Butterfly Trail.

Monday, July 17: After 4 p.m.

Monday is Family Night at Mesquite Golf Club. Kids 16 and under PLAY FREE with a paid adult. Includes a free hot dog, chips and a drink.
One child free per paid adult of equal or lesser value. Available for 18 or 9 hole rates.

Tuesday, July 18: 12:30 p.m.

Adults 50+ can enjoy an ice cream social at Goodbar Senior Center

Wednesday, July 19: 7 – 8 p.m.

Shoot with an Archery Pro at Westlake Sports Center. All equipment is provided

Thursday, July 20 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Join the Facebook challenge. Every hour a picture of a Mesquite park will be posted. Be the first to correctly identify the park AND find the hidden beach ball in the picture and win a prize! facebook.com/mesquitetexas 

Friday, July 21: 7 p.m.

Go to Paschall Park for Movies in the Park and watch “The Lego Batman Movie” with the annual Touch-a-Truck event. Pre-show entertainment includes music, dancing and games. 

Saturday, July 22: 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Go to downtown historic Mesquite for the Mesquite Marketplace. Shop locally grown and produced food and goods in Heritage Square.

Sunday, July 23: All Day

Monday, July 24: 8:15 a.m. -12:15 p.m.

Children ages 7 and up can register to join the First Tee of Greater Dallas in a week long camp at the Mesquite Golf Club. For more information, visit www.thefirstteedallas.org
Fee is $120 per golfer, half and partial scholarships are available by request.

Tuesday, July 25: 10 – 11:30 a.m.

Toddlers four years old and younger are invited to City Lake Aquatic Center’s zero depth entry pool for a special swim time with their parents.  
Fee is $4 per parent, children are free.

Wednesday, July 26: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Post a picture having fun outside on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram with the hashtags #RealTexasFun and #Mesquite for a chance to win a prize. The winner will be posted on facebook.com/mesquitetexas 

Thursday, July 27: 8 a.m.

Join the Mesquite Senior Golf Association (MSGA) at the Mesquite Golf Club. Members are 50 and up. 
Annual dues are $35, plus greens fees.

Friday, July 28: 6 - 9:30 p.m.

Dance to the live music of Lone Star Express at the Adults 50+ Dance located at Evans Recreation Center. Free dance lessons start at 6 p.m. and the band begins at 7 p.m.
Fee is $6 per person

Saturday, July 29: 8 – 9 a.m.

Jump in Town East pool for a low-impact, high-energy aquatic exercise class with Aqua Zumba.
Fee is $25 per month or $7 drop-in rate

Sunday, July 30: All Day

Bring your dog to the Leash Free Zone located within the Town East Park.

Monday, July 31: All Day
