Water Conservation Plan

On July 1, 2019 the Mesquite City Council adopted Ordinance 4691 approving a new Water Conservation Plan and a new Drought Contingency and Emergency Management Plan as required by the Texas Development Water Board and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.  For questions or comments regarding these plans, please email Kathy Fonville, Sustainability Program Coordinator, at kfonvill@cityofmesquite.com or call 972-329-8300.

The City of Mesquite receives treated water from the North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) which consists of 13 member cities and 31 direct customer cities. The NTMWD is continuously planning for the region's population growth and future water demand. It is now estimated that over 25% of future water supply for our region will come from conservation efforts. Both the City of Mesquite and other NTMWD member cities have adopted practices and regulations to conserve our limited water resources.
