Monthly Data

The monthly statistical reports contain a variety of information. Our goal at Mesquite Animal Services is to maintain a 10% or less euthanasia rate. The monthly reports contain the following data:

Euthanasia Rate (provides the percentage of animals euthanized - calculated by taking the number of shelter euthanized animals and dividing by that by the total number of Live Intakes)

Live Release Rate (provides the percentage of live outcomes - calculated by taking the total number of live outcomes and dividing that by the total number of Live Intakes and multiplying that by 100) * Please Note - Keep in mind the shelter never starts at zero which effects this calculation.

Save Rate/Placement Rate (provides the percentage of animals placed from the shelter - calculated by taking the total number of live animal outcomes and dividing that number by the total number of animal outcomes and multiplying that by 100)

We feel that by reporting all three percentages, we can be the most transparent about our success rate. These rates and calculations are animal welfare industry standards utilized by ASPCA and Asilomar Accords.
