The Spread the Love campaign encourages the donation of peanut butter and jelly to help feed children in food insecure families during the summer when free or reduced school lunches are unavailable. Donations are distributed by food pantries in Mesquite: Sharing Life Community Outreach and Mesquite Social Services.
2017 “Spread the Love” campaign is another success
The 2017 Spread the Love peanut butter and jelly food drive had another successful year. The campaign
benefits the food pantries of Sharing Life Community Outreach and Mesquite Social Services.
Donations were were provided by the community, civic clubs and corporations. These included Walmart, El Rio Grande Latin Market and Mesquite AMBUCS.
In addition, Dallas Mavericks guard Wesley Matthews made a special appearance at Florence Elementary School on March 9 to present the City with enough peanut butter and jelly to make 20,000 sandwiches courtesy of Albertsons/Tom Thumb Companies.
Donations to the Spread the Love campaign are accepted throughout the spring and summer months of 2017 to help feed children during the summer who typically rely on free or reduced lunches provided by their schools. Peanut butter and jelly are both in high demand during the summer months.
