New Water Conservation Plan

On May 19, 2008, the Mesquite City Council adopted a water conservation and drought ordinance to address the growing concern of the region’s water supply. The City of Mesquite receives treated water from the North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) which consists of 13 member cities and 31 direct customer cities. Even though the region is not currently under drought conditions, both the City of Mesquite and other NTMWD member cities have adopted practices and regulations to conserve our limited water resources.

New Requirements:

  • Prohibits lawn watering between the hours of 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. beginning April 1 and ending October 31 each year

  • Allows car washing only with the use of a hose-end positive shut off nozzle

  • Prohibits operation of malfunctioning irrigation equipment
