Favorite Authors

Children's authors know that using the Web is a great way to keep in touch with their fans. Here are some home pages from some of our favorite authors:

Fans of Ted Arnold's books will enjoy his website.  There are pages to print and color (including a new Huggly bookmark); a step-by-step illustration of how he works; a gallery of pictures that his young fans have sent to him; and a page of pictures from when Flat Stanley came to visit him!

Writer and illustrator Jan Brett (author of The Mitten, Beauty and the Beast, and The Trouble With Trolls) maintains her own page, which not only highlights all her books, but also includes activity pages where you can print out coloring pages or send electronic postcards to friends.

12-year old David Lindsay is a major Redwall fan, so he designed the Official Brian Jacques Homepage, with reviews of the entire Redwall series and the author's tour schedule. Fans can submit questions to the author and read answers to previous questions.

Katherine Paterson (author of Bridge to Terabithia, and The Great Gilly Hopkins) also maintains her own website. There you can find her biography, read reviews of her novels, and find answers to the questions fans ask her most.

Gary Paulsen's Homepage (author of Hatchet, Dogsong, and Brian's Winter) is full of information about the author and his books, compiled by reading specialist Kay E. Vandergrift.

Cynthia Leitich Smith is a young author from Austin with two books (so far) to her credit:  Jingle Dancer and Rain is Not My Indian Name.  Her website is a treasure trove of information not just about her, but about children's books and children's book authors.  Keep up to date by signing up for an e-mail newsletter.  Cynthia Leitich Smith is one of the authors selected for the 2001 Young Writers Workshop.
