Scholarship Administration

  • KMB will award scholarships to deserving YEL students in May of 2011.

  • The scholarship amount will be sent to the college or university of choice in the name of the scholarship recipient. The college or university will administer disbursement of funds based on recipient needs in the areas of tuition, fees, and books.

  • Should the student withdraw from the college or university before the scholarship fund has been depleted, the college or university will be directed to send the remaining funds to Keep Mesquite Beautiful. If the student transfers to another college or university without lapse in enrollment, Keep Mesquite Beautiful will send the remaining funds to the new college or university. If the student does not reenroll for the next college semester, the remaining scholarship funds for that student will be returned to Keep Mesquite Beautiful, Inc.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be a graduating senior from a local high school.

  • Applicants must be an active member of the KMB Youth Environmental Leaders for the current year.

  • Applicants must be planning to enroll in an accredited two or four year college or university.

  • Applicants must be planning to enroll for a full academic load, considered to be 12-15 hours per semester.

Selection

The scholarship is established to provide deserving students with the opportunity to defray the cost of attending a chosen college or university. The scholarship is meant to focus on students who have served on the Youth Environmental Leaders for Keep Mesquite Beautiful. Final selection of recipients will be made by the KMB Youth Environmental Leaders Committee and will be made on the basis of merit in three categories, listed in order of consideration:

  • KMB/YEL service.
  • Scholarship/School Record.
  • Financial need.
