The City of Mesquite is seeking a qualified Junior System Administrator to join the Information Technology Department. The Junior Network Administrator will provide support and maintain the City's server operating systems across the network, assist the network administrators in building and implementing network systems across the enterprise; includes maintaining and supporting and optimizing all local and wide area network connections, associated software, and communication links; troubleshoot advanced network performance issues; and analyze network traffic and provide capacity planning solutions.
The Junior Network Administrator will work with other IT personnel to plan and implement expansion and upgrade of network applications. This position will maintain documentation for city wide network servers and services. Must have working knowledge of current Microsoft Windows Server operating systems, Microsoft Active Directory and related services. Requires basic knowledge of TCP/IP and networking concepts and knowledge in server virtualization from VMware and Microsoft and storage area networks (SANS). The candidate should be able to work as part of a team, as well as be able to perform duty assignments with limited direction.
This position will also serves as a resource for network monitoring, management, and support for both hardware and software; installs network operating systems, LAN and WAN components; follows policies, procedures, and strategies related to the use, management, and support of network components; serves as primary contact for the repair and replacement of network equipment.
- Requires an Associate's Degree in Computer Science or related field.
Professional level work experience may substitute for associate's degree requirement. Three (3) additional years of professional level work experience may substitute for two (2) years of required education.)
- Requires two (2) years of increasingly responsible network and system administration.
- Must possess a valid Driver's License.
- Must be available to work M-F 8am-5pm.

The City of Mesquite is seeking a qualified Programmer Analyst to join the Information Technology Department. The Programmer Analyst will perform a variety of technical functions for the Information Technology Department including support and maintenance of existing software systems, development of programs to support new and existing City functions, and technical support to other City departments and divisions.
- Requires an Associate's degree in computer programming, information systems or an Accredited Technical School certificate of completion with study in computer programming.
- Requires two (2) years of experience in computer programming with strong emphasis on database applications.
- Must possess a valid Class C Texas driver's license.
- Must be available to work M-F 8am-5pm.
