911 OPERATOR/PUBLIC SAFETY DISPATCHER
Starting Salary: Starting Salary: $14.00/hr.

Prior history that includes any felony, class A or B misdemeanor, and any illegal drug use beyond experimental marijuana and negative work history will disqualify you from applying for this position. You must be able to work the following rotating shifts on a month-to-month basis during the first year of employment: 6am-4pm 10am-8pm 4pm-2am 8pm-6am A Public Safety Dispatcher will provide a variety of specialized and routine tasks in the provision of emergency and non-emergency communication services. They answer emergency and non-emergency calls for the Police and Fire Departments. They also provide emergency dispatch services for the Police and Fire Departments for the City of Mesquite. Must be 18 years of age. Must have a High School Diploma or GED on hire date. Applications will be accepted from candidates 6 months prior to receiving High School Diploma/GED and 18th birthday. No experience required. Must possess a valid Class C Texas driver's license. Must be available to work a flexible schedule, which will include working all shifts, weekends and holidays as needed. DETENTION OFFICER
Starting Salary: Starting Salary: $13.94/hr.

You must be able to work the following rotating shifts on a month-to-month basis during the first 6 months of employment: 11pm-7am 7am-3pm 3pm-11pm Detention Officer’s participate in a variety of semi-skilled tasks involved in the processing of prisoners for detention in the municipal jail. They oversee the safety and well-being of all prisoners and provide responsible administrative and technical support to the detention function in a stressful environment. Must be 18 years of age. Must have a High School Diploma or GED on hire date. Applications will be accepted from candidates 6 months prior to receiving High School Diploma/GED and 18th birthday. No experience required. Must possess a valid Class C Texas driver's license. Must be available to work a flexible schedule, which will include working all shifts, weekends and holidays as needed. TESTING REQUIRED: Typing (20wpm)
