911 OPERATOR/PUBLIC SAFETY DISPATCHER
Starting Salary: Starting Salary: $14.00/hr.

A Public Safety Dispatcher will provide a variety of specialized and routine tasks in the provision of emergency and non-emergency communication services. CREW MEMBER (W & S RECONSTRUCTION)

The City of Mesquite is seeking a Crew Member in the Water Distribution Division to perform a wide variety of general maintenance activities and functions including installing, maintaining and repairing water pipes and sewer pipes. Will provide support to the public and assigned city departments and divisions.

  • Must have six (6) months of general outside labor experience operating motorized equipment similar to that used in water distribution and/or collection and reconstruction.

  • Requires a high school diploma or GED.

  • Must posses a valid Class C Texas driver's license.

  • Must obtain a valid Class A Commercial driver's license (the city will assist with obtaining a CDL) within ninety (90) days of employment as a condition of continued employment. When assigned to Distribution – obtain Class “C” Distribution certification from Texas Commission on Environmental Quality within one year following successful completion of probationary period. Failure to obtain appropriate certification will result in non-disciplinary termination.

Must be available to work 40 hours per week M-F, 7:00am- 3:30pm with overtime and rotating on call.

The Marketing Specialist will create and maintain a favorable public relations image for the department through the promotion of the mission and vision of the department through a variety of media and marketing tools.

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in marketing, communications, public relations, public administration, recreation or closely related field.

  • Professional level work experience in marketing, communications, public relations, public administration, recreation or closely related field may substitute for Bachelor degree requirement. One year of professional level work experience may be substituted for each year of required education, up to a maximum substitution of four years. A High School Diploma or GED is required when substituting professional level work experience for the Bachelor degree requirement.

The primary function of the Recreation Division is to provide a wide variety of activities designed to meet the leisure needs of the entire community for all ages.

The City of Mesquite is seeking a Recreation Leader to lead participants in a variety of recreational activities. Will supervise the use of equipment, supplies and enforce the rules and regulations of the Community Center. The Recreation Leader will assist in organizing and implementing activities for the recreation program.

  • Requires a high school diploma or GED.

  • NO EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY, although experience in leading education or recreation programs is preferred.

  • valid Class C driver’s license is required.

  • L license is preferred to drive a 15-passenger van.

The Signal Maintenance Technician will maintain, repair and construct traffic signals; to maintain accurate records on material and equipment used; and will perform a variety of tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.

  • Requires one (1) year of responsible experience in the maintenance, repair and construction of traffic signals including experience in electronics repair.

  • Must obtain a Commercial Class A Driver’s License within one hundred eighty (180) days of employment as a condition of continued employment.

Must be available to work flexible schedule M-F 7:30-4:30pm (rotating schedule; 44 hours one week then 36 hours the following week).

SIGNS AND MARKINGS TECHNICIAN

The Special Projects Coordinator will perform a variety of tasks in processing participants who are continuing in the Section 8 program. Will conduct monthly interim recertifications; under general direction plans, coordinates and provides assistance in the design, implementation and administration of the Family Self-Sufficiency Program; assists Housing staff with special projects.

  • Requires a bachelor degree in sociology, psychology, social services or related field from an accredited college or university.

  • Requires one (1) year of experience working in a social service related organization or department providing counseling and interviewing services with one (1) year experience in accounting or similar work, including some data entry experience.
