They will begin in February on the 3, 10, 17 & 24 on MONDAYS ONLY at the Mesquite Public Library, 300 W. Grubb Drive from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The AARP will continue to be available on Mondays only during the months of March on 3, 10, 17, 24 & 31 and April 7 & 14. The Mesquite Public Library System is celebrating National Library Week, April 13-19. In honor of this special week, the Mesquite Main Library, 300 West Grubb Drive, will host a family program on Monday, April 14, 6:30 p.m., featuring Critterman. Critterman will bring some native Texas neighbors with him to introduce to the audience, including a tarantula, a giant toad, a prairie dog, an American alligator and a kingsnake.

Experience fun ways to share books and language with infants. Each child will receive a Books for Babies kit including a board book of their very own. Mesquite Parks and Recreation proudly presents their annual Mother Son Dance, April 4 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Mesquite Convention Center. The Mesquite Convention Center is located at 1750 Rodeo Drive. Boys, ages 4-12 will enjoy this fun filled evening with their mother with fabulous music, light refreshments and dancing.

Tickets will go on sale beginning March 5 for $15 per person. If purchased at the door, the tickets are $20 per person.

Currently, we are seeking participants for the parade that will take place on Saturday, April 5 beginning at 10 a.m. As in year’s past, horses, bands and floats will wind their way through downtown Mesquite following its traditional route which starts on Belt Line at Newsom and ending on Galloway Ave. at New Market.

This year’s rodeo parade Grand Marshall will be Kloie Oguntodu, a 2nd grader at Shaw Elementary. Kloie won the girls, ages 6-7, NFL National Championship Punt, Pass and Kick competition, bringing national attention to Mesquite.

Meet and greet the Easter bunny at this year’s, Breakfast with the Bunny at Evans Recreation Center, located at 1116 Hillcrest Street. The event is scheduled for Saturday, April 12 from 8 to 10 a.m. There will be a pancake breakfast for $5, as well as, pictures with the bunny, which will be an extra fee of $3. Breakfast with Bunny will also include hamster balls, a petting zoo, face painting, balloon animals and at 10:30 a.m., there will be an egg hunt for infants to 9 years of age. The egg hunt will be broken down by age groups:
0-2, 2-4, 5-7 and 8 -9

Breakfast with the Bunny is an event the whole family can attend and enjoy!

The City of Mesquite Parks and Recreation Department invites you to sleep under the stars at Camp Rorie Galloway.

Registration is in progress for the spring family camp out beginning at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 12, until 10 a.m. Sunday, April 13, at the park located at 3100 Lawson Drive. Activities will include a bonfire, archery, games, astronomy and lots of fun!

The Family Campout is $30 per family of 4 and $5 for any additional people staying in your campsite. Cost will include a hot dog dinner and breakfast provided Sunday morning.

Families will need to provide their own tent and sleeping materials. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Don’t miss out on your chance to sleep under the stars with your neighbors. Register early by Sunday, April 5 at any Parks & Recreation Offices.

The Real. Texas. Festival will be held April 25 and 26 at Rodeo Center located at 1818 Rodeo Drive. The event will feature a variety of music, entertainment, food and family fun.
