Canine Good Citizen Classes are also offered on Saturday mornings at 9 AM. The cost is $35 for 4 weeks of training and includes testing on the 5th Saturday.
The CGC dog should know at least the 5 basic commands: "Heel," "Sit," "Down," "Stay" and "Come." It is recommended that the prospective CGC candidate has passed a basic obedience class, or has been home taught to know these commands. You can take the basic obedience class at the Mesquite Animal Shelter, and then move on to the CGC classes and testing.
Upon passing you will receive your test results to send to the American Kennel Club whereby your dog will be registered as a Canine Good Citizen. You can also receive a beautiful, frameable certificate to display in your home or office and a badge suitable for sewing on a favorite shirt, sweater or jacket.
